1.11.0 · 2026-11-05

Screenshot selection is redesigned, text width is adjustable, and underlines and superscripts survive a Markdown round trip.

  • Screenshots: the screen freezes when you start a capture, so open menus and tooltips stay in view. Click a window to keep its rounded corners, and fine-tune the selection with the magnifier and arrow keys. Scrolling capture controls now fit in a single status bar.
  • Text notes: set a maximum text width in Settings > Appearance to follow the window or limit the line width. Underline text from the floating toolbar; underlines, superscripts, and subscripts survive a Markdown export and import. Headings, mixed Chinese and Latin text, and line spacing around superscripts are improved.
  • Workspace rows give the title, preview, and note details one line each.
  • File > Close All (⌥⌘W) closes every note on the desktop at once. Your notes stay in the Workspace.
  • Command line and MCP: create notes from templates, read images, and page through notes. PinMark comes to the front only when you open a note, and write commands no longer stall.
  • Fixes: some images were treated as transparent after scaling a preview; desktop text notes lost their background blur; the save dialog for a scrolling capture was covered; selecting text or resizing an image near the bottom of a text note moved the window.

1.10.0 · 2026-10-27

Templates are rebuilt, Workspace and Settings are redesigned, and PinMark has a new app icon.

  • Templates, rebuilt: manage them from Window > Templates (⌥⌘T), and changes save automatically. Templates can set a note color and paper, and add the {Tomorrow}, {Yesterday}, {Week}, and {Cursor} variables. The free plan includes 3 templates and Pro has no limit; built-in templates from earlier versions don't count toward it.
  • Note List is now Workspace, redesigned: search moves to the sidebar, a switch at the top right pins a note to the desktop or unpins it, and previews no longer show the raw Markdown of formulas and tables. Settings is redesigned too, with Appearance previews that show real notes.
  • A new app icon, with Dark, Tinted, and Clear appearances on macOS 26 or later.
  • Hover over a color or font in the menu to preview it on the note, just like paper. Gray notes are brighter, and on macOS 27 or later a thin edge line stays when shadows are off.
  • The command-line pinmark pin / unpin and the MCP server (@pinmark/mcp 0.2.0) now pin a note to the desktop or unpin it.
  • Fixes: deleting a note closed the Templates and User Guide windows; the default opacity for image notes didn't take effect; global shortcuts weren't restored after switching apps while recording a shortcut.

Screenshot to text keeps tables and lists, long screenshots are recognized in segments and joined back together, and docked notes are steadier.

  • Screenshot to text (macOS 26 or later): paragraphs, headings, lists, and tables become editable structure, and copied results paste directly as tables; Chinese and small text on dark backgrounds are recognized more accurately. Works for screenshots, scrolling screenshots, and image notes.
  • Recognized text is kept as written: lines that start with "- ", "1." or "#" are no longer turned into lists or headings.
  • Long screenshots are recognized in segments and joined back together, so paragraphs, lists, and tables that cross a segment stay intact.
  • Help > Rate PinMark… and Settings > About now let you rate PinMark.
  • Fixes: undo after switching notes could empty the note or replace it with the previous note's text; docked notes that had slid out were pulled back when the screen changed; PinMark now appears in the system Share menu on macOS 13 and later; extra empty paragraphs after tables and saving single-column tables.

Scrolling screenshots and drawing inside notes are here, long image notes scroll for reading, and Photo Wall is now its own feature with eight layouts.

  • Scrolling screenshots: scroll while PinMark stitches one long image, with a live preview. Make an image note, a text note (Pro), or copy or save it directly.
  • Drawing: sketch diagrams and figures inside a text note, insert the result, and double-click it to edit again anytime.
  • Long image reading: long image notes fit the window width and scroll vertically.
  • Photo Wall: eight layouts including Gallery, Masonry, Fan, and Collage, while text notes stay where they are. Screenshot notes now use the global shortcut ⇧⌘2 by default.
  • Fixes: with iCloud Sync on, images and drawings inside text notes now sync to your other Macs, and screenshots on Retina displays are captured at native resolution.

All 16 paper styles were redrawn, and the paper menu previews on hover. Callouts can be folded, and note typography was refined.

  • All 16 paper styles redrawn: embossed material textures, cleaner illustrated papers, and steadier colors on dark notes.
  • Hover over a paper in the menu to try it on; nothing is saved until you choose, and free users can preview Pro papers too.

Sharing is the note itself again: what you copy or export is the full note you designed, with its own color, paper, and font. Paper styles grew from 4 to 16, and PinMark can now live in the menu bar.

  • Share a text note as the complete snapshot you designed — full text included, wide tables wrapped, no fixed-ratio crop. The four share styles and the ratio picker introduced in 1.5.0 were removed.
  • 16 paper styles across writing, natural, and illustrated families; None, Lined, Dotted, Grid, and Fiber are free for everyone.
  • PinMark can run from the menu bar instead of the Dock, or both.
  • Headings up to H5, a foldable slash menu, and faster LaTeX editing with inline and block formulas.
  • Links form as you type, with ⌘K to edit and a preview bar under the cursor.

Content flows in both directions: share notes as long images, save them as Word or HTML documents, and send documents from the system share sheet straight onto your desktop.

  • Share text notes as square, portrait, story, or full-length images — long notes keep their font size instead of shrinking.
  • Image notes can be shared too, in their current style and without the desktop rotation angle.
  • Save As exports Markdown, plain text, HTML, and Word; formulas become native, editable Word equations.
  • Send Word, PDF, Markdown, and more to PinMark from the share sheet and they become editable text notes.
  • Emoji search now speaks Chinese, Japanese, and Korean; deletion gained confirmation and undo.
